As I've grumbled before I'm notoriously unmoved by the game of American Football. What I do quite enjoy, however, is watching others watching football. Fortunately, I know two rabid football fans (one in each conference) to watch during the the season. I suppose in what women call "male bonding" I really enjoyed watching the Giants' improbable playoff push with then fellow inmate Mr. Levittown. Seeing both their nail-biting conference win over soon to "retire" Brett Farvre or the inspirational team effort against the supposedly invincible Patriots in a Long Island bar must have been akin to watching the Yankees win the '96 World Series from a bar stool at Stan's.
What prompted this revelry in memory? The story below reminded me of a famous quote:
"It is not enough that I should succeed - others should fail" - David Merrick

Ahhh yes, those were good times indeed. Perhaps as the Mets wind their way through the post-season we can repeat the performance. :)
